First Generation College Student Programs

National First Generation Day Celebration

National First Generation Day is held on November 8 to commemorate the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965 that provided federal funding to strengthen resources and make college more accessible for all students. Our 2019 celebration included an exclusive t-shirt, celebration event with first generation faculty and staff in all the academic colleges, and a scholarship workshop.

First Generation Fridays

The purpose of First Generation Fridays is to create a community of support for first generation college students. First generation faculty and staff are also in attendance.
